Beer/food pairings.

For almost 25 years, The Bushwakker Brewpub has been breaking fresh trails in the Saskatchewan craft brewing industry. As new craft breweries enter the provincial brewing landscape, we are very pleased to showcase their beers by offering them on our guest import tap from time to time in addition to the other North American craft beers and European beers we are able to special order. There is positive synergy between quality craft beer producers.

At the same time, we also take great pride in producing over 30 unique Bushwakker beer brands annually and we too continue to create new offerings. We encourage you to revisit and rediscover the many Bushwakker beers that you may have not enjoyed for quite some time.

Each day we will feature a Bushwakker beer at a reduced price in both the full pint and half pint sizes. Our head brewer will work with our senior kitchen team and select that daily beer feature based on how well it pairs with the daily hot food special.

A feature of our original 1991 menu was specific Bushwakker beer recommendations which would pair with each particular food item on the entire menu.  A quarter century later, we are returning to our roots and once again wish to demonstrate just how well our food and beer enhance the flavours of one another. And more importantly, how each and every Bushwakker beer is worthy of exploring on its own merits. Enjoy!

Haven’t seen this for a while. What went wrong?

This month's lecture will be presented by Dr. Kelvin T. W. Ng from the U of R Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. In Canada, the municipal solid waste (MSW) generation rate has been steadily increasing since 1990. Currently we generate more MSW per-capita than most other countries. Landfill technology is the most commonly used MSW treatment method in Canada. Operation of landfills and other land disposal sites, however, contributes to many environmental problems, such as the generation of methane (a greenhouse gas) and leachate (a toxic and concentrated “garbage juice”). According to the waste data, residents in Saskatchewan recycle a very small fraction of their wastes, and send majorit y of them to our landfills. In this talk, we will talk about the solid waste management system in Saskatchewan, and the benefits and challenges associated with the use of landfill technology.
