The name "Bushwakker" comes from cross-country skiing. It means "to travel through the bush, making one’s own trail". The Bushwakker Brewpub has made its own trail. We were the first to ask the Government of Saskatchewan to enact legislation enabling brewpubs in the Province of Saskatchewan. We were the first to move toward using a full mash system and the first to sell full-mash craft beer in Regina. We have grown a market in Regina for such products as full-flavoured craft beer and single malt scotch.
Although we are innovative, we don't reinvent wheels. We learn from others. We "thought globally but acted locally" long before that phrase became a cliche. That means we learn from others everywhere and then measure the relevance of that knowledge to our own market.
We have a commitment to quality that is unique. We are dedicated to quality in everything we do, not just in brewing. To achieve quality we use very few prepared products, either in our kitchen or our bar. Not only is our beer produced in our own brewery from high quality basic brewing ingredients, but our food is also produced in our kitchen from high quality basic cooking ingredients.
We provide four things to the customer; food, drink, service and ambiance. Our success depends on the quality of all four.
Quality means good flavour, full flavour and authenticity. Our beer is not filtered or pasteurized. It is aged longer than other craft beers. In the kitchen, our Hungarian Goulash would qualify as being from a kitchen in Budapest. Our kitchen's fries, nachos, burgers and fish and chips are known throughout Regina.
We want our customers to feel free to relax and unwind. That means that our staff must have the knowledge and confidence to be relaxed themselves. Therefore, we expect our staff to always be looking for opportunities to upgrade their knowledge and skills related to their jobs, to the hospitality industry and to the Bushwakker.
As an independent Regina business, we demonstrate our commitment to our community through our activities that support community organizations and charities. We like to promote local artists and musicians. We support community organizations like the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Regina. And, of course, we provide unique services and products to Regina.
